The Clergy Compilation – Subject Connection

ClergySounds

Just last year I had the chance to connect with a group of young, immensely talented, diverse and ambitious group of artists, musicians, producers, singers, songwriters and emcees all hungry to make a big mark on the current D.I.Y. music environment. They’re known as The Clergy and include artists Deno Green, Eboneé A.D, Oobrgk, Dre Dollars, Lena Chanel, The SEVENth, Jessica Renee and Jon Bap. This set of music contains some seriously eclectic and adventurous sounds that could very well be featured in a publication like, say, FADER magazine. Each artist has put their all into each of these songs, and more ears definitely need to hear what they’re saying. Take a listen online and be sure to support these up-and-coming artists. You can also check them out online:

Reef The Lost Cauze – Moonshine prod. by Haj of Dumhi

One of the slept on but very dope tracks released from this past week featured on HipHopDX.com. This is a pretty melodic track that flows like water from beginning to end, and the video, with it’s grimy, low-budget but fun and carefree feel is the perfect compliment, and definitely gives a true glimpse into summer in the inner city. Specifically, it’s Philly of course. It’s getting harder and harder to find good, solid Hip Hop with all the music that’s released on a daily basis alone, but this one from Reef The Lost Cauze definitely fits into that category.

TERESAJENEE VLOG 5.2

Check out the latest vlog from super indie R&B, electro soul artist Teresa Jenee out of the LOU. I can’t even express how proud I am of her right now with all of her accomplishments from the past two years, as we’ve had a bit of a friendship going on, even though we’ve never formally met in person. CRAZY, RIGHT!?!? Anyway, peep TJ as she gives a glimpse into her upcoming live shows and new music coming very, VERY soon. Don’t sleep…

PASSALACQUA and the 2013 ART X DETROIT Experience by Kresge

Here’s another video from Hip Hop duo Passalacqua out of Detroit, MI. They were the recipients of funding from the Kresge institute in Detroit and are going to be part of this five-day multidisciplinary celebration in the city celebrating visual, performance and literary artists among many others. Check out the video of Brent and Brian giving a peek into their musical world and all they’re trying to accomplish in Detroit in the video just below.

Fuze the Mc – Angel In A Blue Dress (ft. Ayanna)

I’ve commented on Fuze the MC before very, very briefly, but I wanted to post a video in support of him because I think his story is pretty intriguing. After reading the bio that he has posted on his website and getting a bit more information of how he used his computer programming/graphic design skills to get his foot in the door industry-wise, I was impressed and I’m looking to hear much more from this dude in the future. He’s already built up a hell of a following for himself and made the right connections so far, and if he keeps on this path there’s no telling what he can do. Love the sample on the song, by the way!

Detroit goes to SXSW! – A Video Diary

Check out this cool little video of a journey all the way from Detroit, MI to Austin, TX with a band of courageous, intrepid indie artists and some of their supporters/friends as they head to SXSW 2013. I got the chance to meet them and they’re really good folks. Although that’s not a surprise since they’re from my hometown. Only bad part is that I missed one of the pop up shows that some of the artists did down in Austin, as well as a house party, but hey, you can’t make it to everything at SXSW. Regardless, get a peek and do your research on the likes of COLD MEN YOUNG, PASSALACQUA, JAMAICA QUEENS and many more doing their thing up in the D.

PASSALACQUA – “Dead Fish Eyes”

Ran into these guys at SXSW as well. Had actually had a few phone call and email conversations with them before, but it’s always better to meet in person. And the most impressive part is that they are making some extremely inventive and original Hip Hop coming out of my Hometown of Detroit. Real Talk. Check out the video below if you don’t believe me:

Charmingly Ghetto – Catching Feelings (Music Video)

Time for some new music from a fresh voice that’s really killin’ it over on the East Coast. Met this brotha up in Brooklyn back in 2011 and we’ve been continuously connecting ever since. Check out the latest joint from Charmingly Ghetto. GET HIP!

WALA by Oobergeek

Chorus:
Wala
Wala
Why Lie? 2x
Verse:  I have to cross dress as a sheep just leap in one's sleep  Low vocabulary and high (appateet) "appetite".  Menstrual all in the spaghetti sauce  Sound strange cause it doesn't scare daddys off.  Give me tons of suitcases of gold  He brought back one hundred of my encephalon's clones.  Labeled me "God", I greeted him same  and said "I wish every fuckin' body'll know their name."  African drum from Marshall's, that bitch made in China.
